WORKSHOP New trends and applications in Building Integrated Photovoltaic System (BIPV) technologies
The orientation of EU towards a “greener” Europe sets new rules for energy management and consumption for all the involved sectors. One of the main goals set by the European Commission to be realized by 2020 is a “Greener, Energy Efficient and a Resource Efficient Europe”. For the construction sector in particular, one of the main challenges is the development of solutions able to induce reduction of total energy consumption and to achieve the greatest possible integration of renewable energy systems into the building envelope.
This challenge is aspired to be answered by the Construct-PV project with the design, development and application of a new generation of photovoltaic systems. The PV panels for the Construct-PV project are not mere means of harvesting solar energy but they are actually customizable, efficient and low-cost building components, integrated in the opaque part of the building skin.
In the present workshop, cutting – edge developments in the area of Photovoltaic Systems and their actual application on real sites, on pilot and large scale cases will be presented. Apart from the Construct-PV project results, participants will have the chance to catch a first glimpse on the new generation of multifunctional construction materials, understand more about the new photovoltaic systems, discuss with researchers and learn about all the new developments in the construction sector.
